The workshop aimed at providing the newly elected council members and mukhtars with technical information on the status of women in elections, and at conducting a need’s assessment evaluation to identify the areas where assistance can be provided.
UNDP LEAP team gave a presentation on the role and importance of women’s engagement in elections as part of the broader campaign of increasing women representation in elected institutions. Moreover, they presented some key results on women’s participation in the 2016 municipal elections and comparative figures of the 2016 and 2010 municipal elections.
